For Listeners
NEWM has multiple future-state enhancements in store for our mobile app. With planned streaming support for NEWM stream tokens, cross-chain support for music NFTs on top of Cardano, and increased integration between the NEWM app and our future stream tokens marketplace, we plan to redefine how artists and fans distribute, listen to, and interact with music today.
General Overview
An NFT is a token on a blockchain that is unique. Each NFT has a specific token ID and contract address that sets it apart from other NFTs. While an NFT can be linked to any media, what’s typically associated as the “content” of an NFT is stored in its metadata, which can include images, videos, music, or other forms of media.
A music NFT is a distinct digital asset that is issued on a blockchain and is linked to a music media file such as an individual song, EP, album, or video clip.
You can purchase Cardano NFTs on the NEWM Record Store.
To purchase cardano NFTs on the Record Store, ADA will be required.
Platform Details
Users are able to connect any Cardano-supported crypto wallet to the NEWM mobile app. There will be options to connect a wallet from phone or desktop device.
Here's the step-by-step process for connecting a wallet on the NEWM streaming app:
How to connect your Cardano wallet to the NEWM app
To connect a mobile wallet (wallet app must support embedded web browser):
- Tap to copy this URL: http://tools.newm.io (within the instructions, user should be able to simply click on this url to copy it onto their clipboard)
- Open your Cardano supported web3 wallet app
- Go to the in-app embedded web browser
- Paste the URL in the address bar
- Tap “Connect Wallet” option & sign corresponding messages
- Copy the code that is displayed after signing
- Come back to the NEWM app and paste that code in field
- Your wallet should now be connected
To connect a wallet on your desktop computer:
- Open your browser on your computer and navigate to http://tools.newm.io
- Click "Connect Wallet" option & sign corresponding messages
- Scan the QR code that is displayed after signing using the app connect-wallet camera
- Your wallet should now be connected
For wallet connection via desktop computer, any Cardano wallet can be utilized. For wallet connection via mobile wallet, any Cardano wallet with in-app embedded browser support can be utilized.
While we encourage users to do their research and select the one that aligns best with their preferences, here are some user-friendly wallets to consider if you’re just starting out:
Remember, each wallet has its unique features, so take your time to explore and find the one that suits you best!
Our app auto-detects available, eligible NFT songs within the connected wallet. Any new songs that are recognized will be eligible for streaming. Likewise, any songs that are removed from the wallet will no longer be eligible for streaming on the app, and if the song was downloaded for offline playback, the song will be auto-removed from the device.
If the wallet is disconnected from the app, any previously eligible songs for streaming will no longer appear and the app will prompt for wallet connection. Any previously downloaded songs will be automatically removed from the device.
Troubleshooting
Don't worry, this may be caused by a few reasons. If on the http://tools.newm.io web page, try refreshing the page a couple of times. In many cases, this is all that’s needed to re-initiate connection.
After you have connected your app on the NEWM tools website, you will be presented with either the QR code or numeric code. ? Make sure that the code has not expired when following these steps (the code expires after 10 minutes).
Lastly, ensure your wallet is Cardano-compatible. Our app does not currently support connection for wallets on other chains.
